Alan P. Heim

For over 20 years Alan served as a Marine Corps Officer in various command and staff positions. He worked during two Washington D.C. tours for General Colin Powell as a member of his Joint Operations Staff. He lived and worked in Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East and all over the United States. After leaving the Marine Corps he spent three years as an executive for ICN Pharmaceuticals, Inc., now Valeant Pharmaceuticals. He worked in a cross-functional capacity as Director of Organizational Planning and Development. In January 2000 he co-founded Lathian Systems, an innovative company that sold software and sales / marketing service solutions to the life science industry. He helped raise 17 million dollars in venture capital funding and grew the company to 40 employees and profitability. After leaving Lathian in 2004, he has worked mainly with early stage and startup companies in various capacities in HR, IT and operations. Most recently he helped lead OSO Bio Manufacturing (a CMO for sterile injectables) for several years until it sold to AMRI, Inc. for $110M. He now runs HRI, a consulting company focusing on Leadership Development and operational efficiency in startups. Alan has a Masters Degree from Pepperdine University in Management and was a Harvard University Research Fellow from 1992 to 1993.
