Osher Shapira

Osher Shapira is the head of the CTO desk in the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) DDR&D. He is responsible for identifying & promoting innovative technological ideas, showing a potential to be integrated in defense applications, by investing in Israeli startups and leading researchers in the US. The projects are not limited to specific fields, allowing flexibility and out-of-the-box way of thinking. 

By age of 22, Osher received both BSc & MSc after successfully completing the excellence program “Brakim” of the Technion Institute of Technology. His Master, honored with a scholarship by the HP company, dealt with theoretical and practical aspects of electromagnetic interactions between electric closed loops for Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) applications.  On his PhD, he evaluates the adoption of the state-of-the-art AI methods for conducting effective data fusion of sensing systems. 

Osher was honored several times for his service as a technology officer in the Israeli Air Force (IAF). His work, awarded with the prize in memory of Niv-Ya Durban, was presented in well-known conferences including IWSHM at Stanford University. 

Osher lives with his wife Nofar in Kyriat Ata. In his spare time, he challenges himself with creating new things with Arduino and 3D printing.
