Mike Hallinan, Commander

Commander Mike Hallinan has 27 years of law enforcement experience and holds a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Sociology and a Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security.  He is a graduate of the California POST’s Sherman Block Leadership Institute, the LAPD WestPoint Leadership Program, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Business Fellowship, the Senior Management Institute of Police, and the prestigious California POST Command College.  Commander Hallinan currently works As the University Area Commander and is responsible for ensuring that the community is provided with the best law enforcement and public safety services possible.  He has prior police experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department and the Los Angeles Police Department.  His past assignments include SWAT, Detectives, Narcotics, Meth Lab Task Force, FTO, DUI Enforcement, Patrol Operations, Office of the Chief of Police, Manager of the Traffic Bureau, and Internal Affairs.  He is the recipient of the Medal of Valor, Lifesaving Award, and Police Officer of the Year.
